SHIELDS – SCORING OUTLINE

The following document is an unofficial outline as to the scoring procedures and does not represent or amend the official Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions for Fleet 9.

Scoring shall be as set forth in the 2009 Shields Class Sailing Instructions and 2009 Aloha Series Notice of Race.

WEEKEND SERIES
Sean Cassedy Memorial Trophy – Spring Series
If 8 races are run, 2 throw-outs are allowed per yacht
Toland Memorial Cup – Summer Series
If 6 races are run, 1 throw-out is allowed per yacht
Kendall Trophy – Fall Series
If 6 races are run, 1 throw-out is allowed per yacht

WEDNESDAY NIGHT SERIES
Spring – 7 races scheduled
Summer – 7 races scheduled
Fall – 6 races scheduled

ALOHA CUP
Races scheduled over four days with no more than 3 races per day
If ten races are completed in a series, then each boat may discard her worst score; if 11 races, her worst 2 scores; if 12 races, her worst 3 scores.

AWARDS

The Manice Trophy -- Overall Fleet Champion
Cumulative scores of both Wed. Night and Weekend Series.

Timothy Dwyer Award – Most Improved
Greatest improvement in overall Wednesday Night placement over previous year.

John Robertson Memorial Trophy – Overall Wednesday Night Series
Combined score of the three Wednesday Night series.

Chris Withers Memorial Trophy – Overall Navy Champion
Scoring for Navy awards will be based on skipper/team finish positions rather than boat finish position but will otherwise be structured the same as Fleet 9.

Concourse Yacht
Most Beautiful Yacht in the Fleet.

Mid-Fleet Trophy
Boat that finishes mid-fleet in the Overall Wednesday Night Series.

Beck Memorial Trophy
Top ILYC boat for combined score of the Wed Night Series and the Weekend Series.
